Reaching, Teaching, Serving
SUNDAY, JANUARY 27
Children's Sabbath is an opportunity to not only celebrate the gift of children
in our lives, but to develop a shared concern for children that helps us build a common commitment to improve their lives and to work for justice on their behalf.
Some Statistics to Start the Conversation
~~Every day in America~~
5 children killed by abuse or neglect - 8 children or teens killed by firearms.
2,058 children confirmed as abused or neglected - 2,163 babies born without health insurance.
2,573 babies born into poverty - 3,312 high school students drop out.
SPECIAL OFFERING FOR THE RAINBOW ROOM
Bring a gift for the Rainbow Room. This is a place where Child Protective Services caseworkers can get items for children who are in crisis situations. The gift can be ANYTHING a baby, child or youth might need ~diapers, formula, toys, books, shoes, socks, toiletries, clothes, paper, pencils ~ ANYTHING new. Families with children or youth might let the young ones help with shopping for the gift. There will be a basket in the narthex to collect these gifts. Of course, cash is always an option.
